For me, the end of July signals a significant change. August means school will be back in session, and that Fall is right around the corner. I love Fall – it’s my favorite season. But that change always has me feeling a bit regretful for what I might not have accomplished during the warmer months. This summer has been incredibly HOT. So I’ve spent a lot more time inside than out, and I’ve tried to make the most of that, but there will always be moments of reflection as Summer puts on its final show and I wonder what I could have done differently, or accomplished…you know, had it not been oppressively hot out…
I feel like I have a LOT of favorites this month. Some months there’s only a couple of things, while others I find myself with a lengthy list and that’s what happened this month. There’s a bit of everything so lets just jump into it.
My new desk lamp – I picked up this new desk lamp from TaoTronics and it is incredible!!! I struggle from frequent headaches and migraines and it can be difficult to find a balance between needing light to work, and finding the lighting to abrasive and painful (you should see how dim the brightness is on my phone!). This lamp has about ninety bazillion different settings that allow you to adjust it to whatever suits you, or what you might need for a particular project. It goes beyond brightness levels (of which there are TWELVE), and also has didn’t temperatures of lighting as well. Some are the super bright blue toned LED that can be expected of modern lighting, and others are more yellow toned, which is what my eyeballs seem to prefer. I also love the design because that too is adjustable and I have it set up to be right above my computer. Further, the light is non-flickering!! For my head that means so much because flickering and/or flashing light is a huge trigger for me! Oh and there’s a USB port on the light so you can charge a device off it as well. For $30, I really don’t think you can go wrong!

This week has become a sort of “Halloween in July” sort of situation. We don’t mind at all, and we hope you’re okay with it too! Everyone does Christmas in July, so we decided to be different I guess! Earlier this week we shared some of our favorite finds from Pier 1, and then some goodies from Target’s Halloween decor. Today, I wanted to share with you 10 great Halloween goodies from Amazon. Whether we like to or not, plenty of us shop on Amazon, so I thought sharing some of the Halloween treats I’ve found on there would be a good idea. I do wish they categorized stuff better – like having a specific section where you could find all the Halloween goodies, because searching for stuff can be a bit tricky. But I still ended up finding some cute treats that I felt like sharing today!
I don’t have a mantle, which means that every year I am envious of those that do. I love this spider web scarf and have always wanted to be able to decorate a fireplace for Halloween! I’d get this style scarf and add a bunch of candles!

If you weren’t already aware, both Tina and I are both pretty big fans of Halloween. I’m absolutely that girl who daydreams about fake cobwebs and oodles of pumpkins when it’s 90 degrees and humid out. You know, like normal people do. Anyways, it should come as no surprise that I already have Halloween on the brain and am all about checking to see what this year has in store for some spooky decor. Earlier this week, Tina shared her picks from the Halloween release at Pier One. Today, I’m sharing my favorites from the Target Halloween collection.
These pumpkin lights (or their ghastly counterpart) would look absolutely adorable on any pathway or bewitching garden!

Okay, so I know its July, but my mind has wandered a bit …. to thinking of Halloween. In all honesty, I think about Halloween nearly year-round. Fall is my favorite time of year, and Halloween is my favorite holiday. Right now they’re airing a week of Christmas in July madness on The Hallmark Channel (which means I’m missing my nightly tradition of The Golden Girls and Frasier thank you very much…), and I truly couldn’t care less. I personally find it annoying. BUT, Halloween in July?? Yeah, we can talk about that all damn day.
Perhaps it’s because of the birthday of Hocus Pocus which just passed, but I find myself with Halloween on my brain a bit heavier right now. I’ve been lusting over Halloween decor that’s actually, already starting to hit store shelves. So I figured, I might as well include others in my joy (or obsession) – and share some of the items I’ve been delighted by as I browse different stores both in person, and online. I think this post is totally justified because its now 100 days until Halloween!
Today’s post is all about Pier One, who has their Halloween goodies on full display on their website. I browsed through all of it and have selected my favorites to share in today’s post! Enter if you dare…

I know, this book came out months ago – so to some it might seem unnecessary to review it. However, I don’t always get to books right when they come out. There’s just not enough time for me to do that with all the books that I find myself interested in. Further, I just started this series last month – from the beginning. Since I’m now here reviewing A Court of Frost and Starlight – the fourth installment in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series, I suppose its safe to say that I’ve enjoyed it. Unfortunately, the benefit of reading a series well after its come out (and received loads of hype and fans…), is that you can immediately proceed to the next book. Like binge watching a series. Only now it means that I have to wait like everyone else for the next installment… boo, hiss.
It also feels somewhat odd to review the fourth part of a series, having not shared my thoughts on the first three, but I still felt compelled to do it. I’ve been meaning to start incorporating more book reviews, and I didn’t feel like waiting until I was done with this series. That just felt silly. The first book pulled me in and opened my eyes enough to have me immediately seeking out the second. The second filled me with so many feelings – anger, intrigue, fear, … to name a few. The third book absolutely wrecked me at so many moments, but in a bizarrely rewarding way. I feel like that sounds awfully weird, but I can’t think of a better way of putting it?? I picked up the fourth book yesterday from the library and made reading it a priority.

With the news of Kingdom Hearts 3 being released in January 2019, it got me to thinking of what I’d like to see brought to one of my favorite game series. I’m currently replaying my way through the first game and it’s easy for me to fall in love all over again with the perfect fusion of the Disney universe and the Final Fantasy lineage. It honestly just feeds my geekdom because there are layers of things to nerd out about in a way that’s unique in the world of video games. I’ve been a big Disney fan since I was a young Warthog in the early 90s (When the best Disney films were made). Couple that with being a video game lover and it’s a perfect nerdy marriage. Here are the worlds that I’d like to see brought to Kingdom Hearts!!
The massive Disney empire now owns the rights to Lucasfilm for the cool tune of about 4 billion dollars after their 2012 purchase and has since added Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to both Disney parks. With the continuation of the Star Wars storylines, I think an abridged Star Wars world could make compelling gameplay for Kingdom Hearts and Star Wars lovers alike. Would it be hard to condense such an expansive storyline featured in the Star Wars universe? Yes of course, but picture this – Sora, Donald, and Goofy adorned in Star Wars inspired costumes. In similar fashion to the Deep Jungle Tarzan world, the world could allow the player to select between a character (perhaps a longstanding character such as Luke Skywalker) or Goofy and Donald. The Heartless could be stylized to fight alongside Stormtroopers perhaps with a minor boss battle with Darth Vader or another Sith character. The options for a Star Wars level are numerous and I think if done well that it could provide something for nerds like me to really oogle over.

This aint a beauty blog. I think that much is clear if you browse through our past published content. However, one of us (hi) is drawn to the glitz and glam of the beauty world just a bit. Honestly, if it’s shiny or sparkly, I’m likely to want it! Perhaps it’s the 80s/90s gal in me? I will say though, that despite my love for makeup, it isn’t something I wear every single day. I’m pretty low maintenance when it comes to stuff like that, and I’ve tried to find a balance since it’s so easy for me to buy more products than I will actually use. There was definitely a time (or two) where I’d want to snatch it all up regardless of whether I’d make good use of it or not. Now, I try to be more mindful in my beauty purchases.
Sometimes I go makeup free out of laziness or because I’m just not in the mood, and other times it might be because I’m not feeling that great and it just feels like one more use of my energy that I can avoid. But I also find that on days where I might feel like garbage, taking a few minutes to do something like slap on some eye shadow or mascara, can actually lift my spirits. I feel like its a way for me to defy my body when its fighting against me. I realize that might sound crazy to some, but if my joints are flaring or my stomach is causing me grief, a little glitter can make me smile – it can make me feel more HUMAN!!
