MOM Season 6 Premiere – Recap & Review

Tonight the sixth season of CBS’s MOM premiered. We’ve both been watching this show since the very beginning and it’s easily one of our top favorite sitcoms. Despite our love, we’ve never really talked about it all that much, so we felt it was time to change that!

Tonight’s premiere episode – Pre-Washed Lettuce and a Mime (S6, E1), starts off with Bonnie making Christie breakfast for her first day of law school (which made me hungry for pancakes). The show opening was also re-done with more of a focus on the adults rather than Christie’s kids which I absolutely love tbh.

At group, we learn that Bonnie’s wedding planning hasn’t been smooth sailing, that is, until she learns that she can literally turn it into a big day wrapped around her. Meanwhile, Christie’s first day of law school turns out to be harder than she thought (And that was before she has to take over for another sick waitress at work and forgets her backback full of books in the locked restaurant.) Bonnie dreams that Adam is cheating on a woman named Louise from Trader Joe’s who he thinks is cute. Christie’s troubles with law school get worse when she decides to quit law school, but advice from Marjorie and a woman’s speech at what is her first meeting spurns a flashback of her own first meeting that brought a change of heart. And of course we got Marjorie’s sage wisdom which the show would feel incomplete without (forget “Chicken Soup for the Soul”, I’m all for some Marjorie wisdom)!

Overall tonight’s episode reminded me why I love this show and I’m so glad that it’s back! The writing in combination with the cast is just the perfect combo, which was certainly evident in tonight’s episode. I was ammused by Bonnie’s fear of mimes, and her love for HGTV’s Property Brothers (And now I know what to call those windows above doors)! I’m absolutely looking forward to Bonnie and Adam’s wedding (I just hope that Adam’s handsome dog makes an appearance)! All in all, I liked the direction that tonight’s episode took the story in and it’s so good to have this comedy gem back for the season.

If you watched tonight’s premiere, please let me know what you thought of the episode in the comments!

Premiere Week – What We’re Watching – September 24-30, 2018

The time is finally here! It’s premiere week!! The blog has been a bit quiet (okay, very), as we transitioned from summer break into grad school again, but we’ve been waiting for this time to arrive. With shows returning, it almost feels like we have dropped back into our *true* routines. We thought we’d take a super quick break to give a run down of the shows we intend to watch this week!

This run down is for the week of September 24th, 2018 through September 30th, 2018. New shows are in bold!

The Big Bang Theory (CBS) – Season twelve is unfortunately going to be the last season of TBBT and we’re a bit bummed about it. Sometimes I feel like we’re in a minority because we love the show, but hey – they’ve made it twelve seasons so clearly they’ve got at least a few fans! 😉 We will definitely be tuning in and it feels right to be starting off with such a good classic sitcom.

Young Sheldon (CBS) – I’d admit that when I first heard about Young Sheldon, I really was apprehensive. I just didn’t see it working out. Well I realized pretty early in season one that it DOES work and it’s one of my favorite new arrivals of last year. My favorite part is actually the set design. I think they have done an incredible job with making everything look appropriate for the time! I also enjoyed seeing Billy Gardell and I hope that he returns for season 2!
