First Impressions — THE SIMS 4 GET FAMOUS

Lights, camera, action!! The latest expansion pack for The Sims 4 dropped yesterday with Get Famous and it’s packing all the star power. The expansion pack brings fame and glory to our Sims as they are introduced to the magical realm of celebrity and the entertainment industry. While there is certainly glitz and glamour with the new gameplay possibilities, one of the real stars for me is the newest content in Create-A-Sim and Build/Buy mode.

Create-A-Sim:

The new clothing and accessory options are stunning for their amount of detail and gorgeous color swatches and patterns in both modern fashion pieces and in pieces that seem to be vintage-inspired (the dream of the 90s is alive in Get Famous). While a lot of the pieces connect to film genres (most notably western), the clothing brilliantly represents the shimmer and shine of Old Hollywood fashions fit for your Audreys and Marilyns while also providing options for your non-thespian Sims. The accessories and hats aren’t too shabby either with hat options that pair with over-the-ear headphones along with some themed hat options, accessories such as a shiny new wristwatch, necklace, and pair of earrings.

Build/Buy Mode:

The options in build/buy mode presented in Get Famous is a blend of a sort of gilded series of pieces that give me Rococo vibes and Mid-Century pieces that continue where The Sims 4 Bowling Night Stuff started. I’m going to be honest – I absolutely LOVE Mid-Century architecture and furniture so when I saw the latest pieces from this pack, I was in love. I don’t personally see myself using too much of the Rococo-style pieces (although it would be perfect for a castle build with those fancy new texture tools), but that’s not to say they aren’t incredible!! One of my absolute favorite pieces from this expansion hands-down would be the new GrammyPhone Radiogram Mid-Century stereo cabinet. I’ve been hoping for a better stereo so when I spotted this new stereo in action as the vinyl record spun, my heart was over the moon in love (seriously, thank you Sim Gurus)!! The build mode objects we were given are equally awesome with the adorable selection of Quaint Cottage Sash Windows and Stable As A Brick Column (the brick column of my building dreams).

Overall, The Sims 4 Get Famous gets on the A-List for its gorgeous new clothes and objects alone. And that’s not even including the outrageous new gameplay that your Sims can now indulge in as they become the stars of stage and screen! You can snag the latest expansion pack with The Sims 4 Get Famous today in the Origin app or here. Are you a fan of this star-studded expansion pack? Let’s Sim – Sims 4 Build – Brindleton Bay Library

This summer, the library system in my county has been running a reading passport contest where people are encouraged to visit the various library branches around the county in order to potentially win prizes. I have knocked a few of the branches off the list and in the process, I’ve enjoyed the architecture of the different buildings I’ve visited. It doesn’t take much for my mind to wander into thinking of ideas for The Sims – it pretty much happens whenever I leave the house. I decided to challenge myself into making a library, but not just any kind of library… a TREEHOUSE library!

One of my favorite types of constructions are treehouses – I used to dream about having one as a kid and I love the Animal Planet show Treehouse Masters with treehouse aficionado Pete Nelson so I thought I would combine my love of treehouses and my make the ultimate library.

I opted to place it in Brindleton Bay because it fits the cozy aesthetic that I get from the town as a whole. The lot that it is on is the 40×30-sized Tail’s End lot originally labeled as residential located in the Whiskerman’s Wharf not far from the Brindleton Bay docks. It really provides a stellar view of the water and the nearby docks while the treeline, especially with the addition of Seasons, makes it really pop!

Okay, no more rambling, let’s just get to the build, shall we??

The Sims 4 Build – Fae Cottage

Something I’ve been really wanting to do for awhile now, is share some of my builds in The Sims 4 here on the blog. Building is definitely my favorite aspect of The Sims and its something I can get lost in for hours. Don’t get me wrong – I enjoy playing the game plenty, but there’s something about creating something in build mode that I find incredibly satisfying and enjoyable (when it of course, goes according to plan)! So today I’m finally going to share one of my builds here. I plan to do more of these in the future.. and perhaps we can do some videos as well?!! We shall see.

I’ve called this lot ‘Fae Cottage’ because I built it with the idea in mind of creating a fairy sim (as much as I could without there being actual fairies in the game), and a quaint cottage for her to live in. I wanted an older house with nice gardens which I think I certainly achieved with this build. Quaint however, sort of went out the window when the house became three stories tall. It is only a 1 bedroom / 1 bath home though so it’s sort of both small and large at the same time? It’s built on a 40×30 lot in the town of Windenburg which I think is perfect for this style house / vibe. I almost did it in Forgotten Hollow, which I think would have also suited the house well, but Windenburg has that older, European vibe that I was after.

The Sims 4 Seasons – REVIEW

Holy crap – it’s finally here!! I honestly can’t believe that we finally have seasons for The Sims 4!! We wrote a post about Seasons when we first heard that we were getting it, but today’s post is going to be so much better. Why? BECAUSE WE HAVE PLAYED IT!!

Now we’re gonna be honest here – we had the best of intentions and initially wanted to get this post out into the world WAY sooner than this. However, this game is just massive compared to other expansions and we felt that we really needed to give it a good play period before giving you our thoughts. Unfortunately, there are also a good deal of glitches, and we’d be lying if we didn’t acknowledge them or how they delayed our reviews as well. Both Melissa and myself lost games and had issues that led to us starting all over again (a few times), so there are definitely some hiccups. It was important to us that we experience all four seasons before writing this too because otherwise, that just wouldn’t make any sense! So now that we’ve justified the delay in this post (to ourselves more than anything), lets get into it!

My Sims 4 Building Wishlist

With the announcement that Simmers can expect glass roofs in the next game patch, it got me to thinking about some of the other build tools and objects I would like to see come to the game. I’ve been a simmer since the inaugural game The Sims and I am impressed so far with the progress made in The Sims 4, but I am hopeful to see some of my favorite architectural techniques added to the game. I personally love building in the game because it provides me a chance to build my dream house (You know, without having to win the lottery and all that). Here are some building aspects I would absolutely jump for joy over if added to The Sims 4.

The Sims 4 SEASONS Announcement + Trailer

Sims4Seasons1

Sul Sul!

If you’re a Sims 4 fan like we are, chances are that you’re pretty excited for the announcement of a Seasons expansion pack. We’ve been Sims fans for the past EIGHTEEN years. Yeah, I realize that sounds pretty crazy, but it’s true; We’ve been here since the beginning! The game has definitely come a long way over the years, and we’ve been here for all of it. It’s hard to pick a favorite version of the game after playing it for so many years, but I think personally, for me, it’s The Sims 4 (Missy says that 3 is her favorite, but she hopes that 4 will eventually surpass it). But the thing that we yearn for the most has easily been seasons. The ironic thing, is that living in Western New York, I honestly don’t even like winter anymore, but dammit, I’d like to at least have the option in-game. It doesn’t feel realistic to live in a world with no weather or seasonal changes (yes, I realize that The Sims is a game, but it’s a game with a heavy dose of realism, so we need realistic details, like seasons)!

When we saw the teaser trailer for a new expansion pack, we instantly thought seasons. I mean, why else would there be a scarecrow?!? Also, the trees – there is color in the foliage! Not to mention, the dude is wearing a scarf, though, to be fair, he looks a little hipster-y so that might not be a clue at all. 😉 We’ve been anxiously waiting for this new trailer to pop up online and now it finally has!

SIMS4seasons2

Thanks to leaked information from Origin and the trailer, we now can see that we’re officially getting seasons! I don’t know about you, but we’re pretty damn excited about this pack! We’re getting all four seasons, and WEATHER. I’ve been wanting rain in the game for so long, which is kind of funny because thunderstorms make my anxiety go nuts, but in game? BRING IT ON! Except for the electrocution prospects – that really freaks me out!

Watching the trailer itself really got me excited – I love the song they used and the trailer was not only really well done, but it gives you almost an overwhelming amount of information as to what we can expect in the new pack. There’s a lot to see and it’s almost hard to decide what we’re most looking forward to.

Seeing this photo in particular REALLY excites me because apparently we can now create bouquets – something I’ve wanted to do for awhile now. I never saw the point of harvesting the flowers you can grow if you couldn’t put them on display in your house! Also, bees – I guess we could now replicate Sherlock Holmes in Elementary and his beekeeping!

I’m looking forward to seeing how we can expand on the skills of being a gardener/botanist. I’ve always enjoyed having my sims start a garden so I’m curious how much further I will be able to take this interest.

I think I’m personally most excited about having weather in the game – ESPECIALLY WIND!!!!, and also the gardening features. Fall is definitely my favorite season so I’m looking forward to experiencing that in game as well. Missy is excited about bouquet making, the winter fest and Father Winter, and the ability to harvest honey. Also, we’re both pretty excited for the Ice Skating!! We’ve both always been nerds about figure skating so it’s perfect for us. 🙂

The game is available for pre-order now and is being released on June 22nd. It will cost $39.99. We think that after watching the trailer and seeing the info on the game, the cost is a fair price because it seems like we’re getting a TON of new stuff that will really expand on the whole game experience. This isn’t an overpriced $10.00 hamster stuff pack (clearly, I have some opinions on that one), this is a whole new world in a sense. There’s new activities, new items and new environments thanks to the addition of season changes and weather. While we obviously haven’t experienced any proper game play yet, we are thinking this pack is going to be well worth the cost!

We want to know, what are YOUR thoughts?! Does the expansion pack meet your expectations? If not, what did you want to see? What are you most excited about? We’d love to hear your thoughts on today’s announcement, so let’s chat in the comments!
